People of Prince Edward County
Making Positive Changes
Plastic Free PEC came about when a group of like-minded individuals came together and said, “Why are we throwing away all this plastic?!”
The next question was, "Why do we even have all this plastic?!" And from that, we knew we had to act.
We are getting re-energized after COVID shit-downs, but our commitment has not faltered:
●Reducing single-use plastics at PEC events through the purchase of mobile event water stations
●The installation of permanent water bottle fill stations in public spaces throughout PEC
●Working with businesses and community groups to reduce and/or eliminate single-use plastics
●Advocating for the Municipality of Prince Edward County to eliminate single-use plastics in all Municipal buildings
●Seeking an official designation such as a “Blue Community” or “Plastic Free Community”
●Educating the public on the detrimental effect of throwaway plastic products and how to change consumption habits
This is by no means an exhaustive list, but we think it’s a great place to start
If you are interested in joining this group, we are looking for help at all levels:
Committee; Event Volunteers; Fundraising Team; and Advocacy.
